TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR HOLLY NEAR

 CONCERT PERFORMANCE
1. KEYBOARDS
1. PRESENTER agrees to provide an acoustic grand piano in good working order with all keys and pedals functioning properly, and a piano bench with adjustable height control.  If such a bench is unavailable, please clear alternatives with ARTIST’S REPRESENTATIVE.
 
2. PRESENTER agrees to provide a small rug (at least 2’ x 3’) for placement beneath the pedals of the piano.  All edges must be taped down prior to sound check.
 
3. PRESENTER agrees to have the piano tuned to pitch A-440 on the day of the performance.  The piano tuner must be available if needed for re-tuning immediately following sound check.
 
4. PRESENTER agrees that the piano will be positioned on stage by the ARTIST, if at all possible.  Otherwise, the piano should be set according to the stage diagram attached to this contract rider.  The ARTIST reserves the right to make adjustments upon arrival at the venue.  The piano should not be moved after final tuning before the performance except by the ARTIST.
 
2. SOUND REQUIREMENTS
1. PRESENTER agrees to provide a high-quality sound system in good working condition, sufficient to provide good quality sound amplification throughout the entire performance space including any balcony.
 
Sound equipment shall include the following:
a.  12 or 16 channel console with the following requirements:
3 band EQ - mid-band must be sweepable
Channel insertion jacks for compression
Two (2) discrete monitor sends, or a separate on-stage monitor is required if this is possible.
Mix 1 - Piano
Mix 2 - Holly
Mix 3 - Back-up singer if required
b. Two (2) or three (3) one-third octave equalizers
c.  One (1) quality digital reverb.
d.  One (1) or two (2) stereo compressors for channel insertion on vocals.
e.  Two (2) or three (3) piano microphones (choose from the following recommendations: Shure SM-81, Neumann TLM103, Neumann TLM170, AKG460) with boom stands. 
f.  Two monitor wedge speakers in front for vocals, one stage right for pianist, and one stage left for fill.    
g. One (1) good quality vocal microphone (Shure SM-58) on an upright stand with clip for easy pull-off of mic and 25 feet of cable for onstage movement.
h. One (1) vocal microphone on boom stand for pianist.
i.  One (1) vocal microphone on an upright stand for back-up singer - only if requested by Artist.
j.  Monitor power amps with sufficient power to drive monitor speakers cleanly and without distortion.
k. House speakers.  House speakers should be the equivalent of a biamped system consisting of:
        Two (one per side) JBL bass cabinets with power requirement of 150 watts each.
        Two (one per side) JBL 90 degree radial horns with power requirements of 100 watts each.
        House power amps with sufficient power to drive house speakers cleanly and without             distortion. 
NOTE:  This set-up is adequate for a small (200-500 capacity) venue.  For larger venues (500-1200 capacity), adjust accordingly.  For higher capacity venues, please work closely with a professional sound company.

 
3. LIGHTING REQUIREMENTS
1. PRESENTER agrees to provide lighting equipment and instruments adequate to provide ample focused lighting on the ARTIST and other on-stage performers during the performance.  Front and back lighting should be bright enough to illuminate each person’s face so that it is easily seen from the most distant point  in the performance space.  Cross- lighting (lighting from two directions simultaneously) is preferable to provide dimension.  Follow-spot only if available.
 
2. ARTIST will provide a set list and simple lighting notations on the day of the performance.
 
4. MISCELLANEOUS
1. PRESENTER agrees to provide a sturdy music stand for Artist.
 
2. In the event a request is made for an ASL interpreter prior to the performance, PRESENTER agrees to hire the interpreter; pay interpreter's fee; and provide everything necessary for interpreter to do her/his job. ARTIST will be responsible for providing set list and lyrics to interpreter. PRESENTER agrees to provide adequate lighting on the ASL interpreter, who will be placed at stage left, so that the interpreter’s hands and face are clearly visible to members of the audience.
